The Saranda Morning Fish Routine: What to Do on Your First Day
The best Saranda holidays follow a simple morning pattern. No getting up at 6 AM. No Albanian required. Just get to Rruga Idriz Alidhima before noon and buy what looks good on the counter.
Step 1: Arrive when the fish is freshest
Fish Shop Ardit opens at 8:30 AM. The first two hours — 8:30 to 10:30 — has the fullest selection of the day. By noon, specific species may be sold out for the day.
Step 2: Look at the counter
Walk in, look at what's on ice. Ask "what's very good today?" — the honest answer tells you what came in particularly well that morning. Point at what catches your eye and ask the price. A simple transaction that doesn't require language skill beyond pointing.
Step 3: Get it cleaned
Tell us how you are cooking it. Whole on the grill? We score and butterfly if you want. Mussels? We check and bag them. Three minutes, no extra charge.
Step 4: Go to the beach
Dinner is sorted. Come back in the evening, light the grill, and eat what you bought this morning. Consistently the best meal of the trip.
